Why we exist...
FUNDACIÓN MAR BALEAR is a private, non-profit making foundation created on 14th June 2006. Our main activity is to co-operate in the preservation and defence of marine ecosystems around the world. Working mainly from the Balearic islands, we preserve and recover the flora and fauna of the sea bed in the event of damage due to natural disasters or man’s action. We also educate in the protection of the coastal environment and the sea surrounding the Balearic islands, encouraging its preservation for future generations. The Balearic littoral and sea bed have natural and environmental elements that give it its unique character. Studies and actions undertaken in Balearic waters and around the world shown to the public are the best means to achieve our goals. They raise awareness and facilitate citizen’s participation in the use and preservation of the seas.
Other aims are to disseminate and diffuse the studies and actions undertaken in Balearic waters, and to raise awareness on the challenges and opportunities of its preservation; to encourage and facilitate citizen’s participation by nurturing interaction among all of the agents involved in the use and preservation of the Balearic Sea.
